A 13-year-old boy is critically injured after struggling in the River Tyne near Ovingham Bridge, Northumberland.
A 14-year-old boy, found dead following an extensive search, was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency services, including fire crews, North East Ambulance Service, Great North Air Ambulance, and Northumbria Police, responded around 15:30 BST on Saturday.
Both boys’ families are being supported by specially trained officers. This tragic incident recalls the death of 13-year-old Robert Hattersley, who drowned in the same river in July 2022.
